Casino Red.com has big ambitions...and the experience to realise them

Casino Red.com, a white label operation from Gibraltar-based St. Minver, has announced that it is to build a GBP 5 million land casino in Huddersfield, UK.

Chief Executive Nicholas Boyes-Hunter told reporters: "We chose Huddersfield out of hundreds of possible towns and cities - but it was an easy decision. It is a vibrant town with a thriving social scene. We knew, on viewing the old cinema, that we could develop a spectacular site in a tremendous location."

The company plans to convert the historic Princess Cinema, and has employed a Leeds-based design company, WDL, to draw up the plans, with an operational start-up scheduled in 12 months time. The Northumberland Street building has housed a nightclub and a restaurant in the days since it was a popular cinema.

The redesigned building will house a poker room in the basement, while the ground floor will host blackjack, roulette and gaming machines, and the first floor will be home to a mezzanine circle boasting an 85-place restaurant and bar. The top floor has been reserved for a possible VIP section.

The company has estimated that up to 120 local jobs will be created by the development

Boyes-Hunter also revealed that his company is to sponsor the local football club. The firm's deal with Hudderfield Town FC represents the biggest single sponsorship agreement in the club's 99 year history and the CasinoRed.com brand will appear on the front of Huddersfield Town's shirts for the 2007/08 season, with a view to extending for a further two seasons including the Club's Centenary in 2008/09. CasinoRed.com replaces Yorkshire Building Society as Huddersfield Town's main club sponsor and will become the Club's official online casino, poker and betting partner.

Casino Red.com appears to have plenty of backing - Boyes-Hunter was CEO of the EndX Group - a UK casino management software company bought out by Progressive Gaming Corporation for $27 million in 2005. PGI is part of the Nevada gambling giant Mikohn Gaming Corporation.

The new Huddersfield venture should have plenty of experience to fall back on - Boyes-Hunter's EndX Group casino management products are used in 375 land casinos in more than 25 countries on 4 continents.
