WINNIPEG — A new report shows the number of moderate-risk gamblers in Manitoba has doubled since 2001.
The Addictions Foundation of Manitoba’s latest gambling report shows 4.7 per cent of Manitobans are considered moderate-risk gamblers.
CEO John Borody says the foundation is working to prevent them from joining the 1.4 per cent of the population considered problem gamblers.
Borody says the report also shows an alignment between male and female behaviour.
He says there are now just as many women gambling as men.
Borody says the shift is due to a changing attitude towards risky activities, and the same trends are seen when studying binge drinking. |
