Royal Hold'em Can Now Be Spread in Casinos

Yesterday, the Nevada Gaming Commission approved a new variation of Texas hold’em called Royal Hold’em for play in the state. Royal Hold’em was created and is being marketed by the Las Vegas gaming company NewPoker, LLC.

Royal Hold’em is played with a stripped deck of 20 cards that only contains tens through aces. Two to six players can play, and the same rules and betting rounds are followed as in Texas hold’em. It is a limit game.

The company says the game will give players a new, fast, action-based hold’em alternative. Casinos will have to license the game in order to spread it.

This is the second poker game NewPoker has gained approval in Nevada to spread. The first is called “No River” hold’em, which is a variation of Crazy Pineapple where instead of two holecards, players receive three (unlike Crazy Pineapple, players keep all three cards throughout play). Play goes on just like in hold’em, except no river is dealt. A full 52-card deck is used, and up to 10 players can sit in one game.
