A police officer in Kingston, Ont., is among four people who have been charged after a provincial police investigation into an alleged illegal gambling ring.
Harvey Kolff, a 39-year-old patrol officer, has been suspended with pay after being charged with controlling monies in relation to bookmaking and transmitting information in relation to betting by telephone, said Kingston police at a news conference Tuesday.
His wife, Lisa Neopolitano, and two other people have also been charged.
Police said they seized three computers and $900 in cash while executing a search warrant.
Kingston police Deputy Chief Bob Napier said he could not say much about the case because it is an Ontario Provincial Police investigation, but he told reporters that some senior officers have been aware about allegations against Kolff for months. |
