Virtual cards to fly high on JetBlue
Another airline has announced its intention to launch an airborne online gambling service in the near future. US domestic outfit JetBlue says that it is to offer WiFi in-flight gambling services via the Internet.
It is understood that the new service will include the ability to place halftime and other interactive bets on televised games through DirecTV at every seat, with a heavy focus on sports-related channels such as ESPN. NFL networks, Fox and CBS, are also well represented.
The initial tests will take place over the course of the next few weeks, reports HTLounge.com, and the limited-bandwidth version of WiFi will come with a few restrictions. JetBlue has teamed with Yahoo and RIM on the initiative, so "early versions" will be "limited to services offered by those two companies."
JetBlue flies to most big US cities, including Los Angeles, New York and Miami. Germany's giant air carrier, Lufthansa, last week announced the purchase of a stake in the US airline. |
