A conservative is like a bumper car at a midway... they only understand what they experience or what hits them in the face. Conservatives by nature are self-centred and self-serving narcissists, they see the world only through a filter that asks: "how does this affect me, is it beneficial for me and not?" They lack the ability to be genuinely compassionate until something happens directly to them including immediate family and loved ones. Otherwise, their philanthropy is to avoid taxes and to "keep up with the Jones's" and to maintain stature in society by appearing charitable (in other words, demonstrating they are wealthy enough to give away money).
Whereas, most Liberals and social democrats have the ability to sympathize and even empathize with people in other aspects of society and respond out of compassion and the belief that we are one community and no one, not even the richest person, can live in isolation from society, so it should be a fair, compassionate and civil society.
Any child that goes hungry or without an education is our child. Conservatives don't support public child care. The Conservative view appears to be: If you're rich, hire a nanny. If you are poor, it's your own fault and you shouldn't have children if you can't afford them. |
