PokerStars has landed an unofficial recorded for the most ring table players playing at their online poker room simultaneously.

PokerStars, which is the largest online poker site in the world, recorded approximately 105,230 players on September 22nd. According to poker room watchdog PokerScout.com, PokerStars was able to parlay more ring table players across its huge variety of Texas Holdem, Omaha, 7 Card Stud and Razz games than ever before. This beat the previous unofficial record of ring table player traffic which was also held by PokerStars in February this year for 103,010 players.

The huge surge in ring table traffic came after PokerStars had announced its 50th billion hand promotion which involved over $1 million in added prizes distributed to their players.

After heavy exposure and adverts promoting the 50th billion hand, a feeding frenzy of both micro-stakes and mid-stakes players flocked over to PokerStars hoping to clip a morsel of the $1 million in free prizes. The lucky winner of the Mega Milestone “tbvle” scooped up $56,000 in bonus cash on the Ornamenta $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Holdem cash table.  Each of the other players on the table received between $2,990 and $3,070 in cash between them - along with a $5,200 WCOOP Main Event seat each! According to PokerScout reports, PokerStars now enjoys a 2:1 edge of ring table players against Full Tilt Poker (2nd largest online poker site).  PokerStars has also enjoyed growth of 20% in traffic this year – way above par than the industry standard 7%.  The majority of PokerStars growth has been from its ability to compete with other poker rooms for their players.  The WCOOP and the 50th billion hand promotion in particular, saw PokerStars siphon off players from competing sites, after seeing double-digit percentage increases in poker traffic.

With French players making up 7% of the online poker industry, PokerStars.fr, a recently created dedicated poker site for French players (in accordance with recent French legislation) has also edged into the top 10 online poker sites, keeping PokerStars at the helm of the industry.
