While Sungold International Holdings launched its Horsepower World Pool Lottery on the internet in partnership with the Chippewa Indians in North Dakota, Youbet.com stopped accepting wagers from D.C. players after the Oregon Racing Commission advised advanced deposit wagering companies that they were at risk of breaking the law if they continued taking bets in Washington.
The Interstate Horseracing Act allows online wagering on horse racing as long as it's done interstate. Last year's UIGEA exempted both horse racing and lotteries from the internet gambling ban.
In other news, the University of Massachusetts forced offline UMasspoker.com, a site which showed the UMass name and logo next to information about poker strategy and online poker reviews. |
